BSI Lake Balaton Supermarthon – Ultra Race in Hungary

Budapest Marathon, organiser of the Nike Budapest International Half Marathon and of the Spar Budapest International Marathon, organises also an ULTRA RUNNING RACE in Hungary.
In 2010 the race was organised for the 3rd time.
It is a 195 km run around Lake Balaton (sometimes also referred to as the Hungarian see). This is a 4 day long race where runners can accomplish the daily distances (46,7 km - 52,9 km – 43,6 km – 52,2 km) either individually, in pairs or in teams of 3 or 4 runners.

Another possibility is to run only over the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) and cover half the distance around the lake. The race is called Half Balaton Supermarathon where runners can come and join only for the weekend, for two days. The Half Lake Balaton Supermarathon can also be run individually, in pairs and it teams of 3 runners.
Any runner wishing to become an ultra runner can join the race for either of the days, the race is called the Marathon +.
Also, on 19 March we organise a classical 42 km for those runners who wish to run a marathon in the spring.
In 2010 overall there were more than 250 runners at the start. The weather was 11-15 degrees, sunshine, everything given for a perfect race! It was a real international event, runners came from 13 different countries. Runners received a beautiful medal and a vest as a memory of their achievement!
The atmosphere of the race is unforgettable, it is a very family-like event where runners already on the second day meet each other as real old friends. The staff almost breathes together with the runners, cheering them on their way!
This year the race will be organised 17-20 March 2011.
